Product Overview
Outdoor non-PoE devices — legacy 12V gigabit cameras on exposed walls, pole-mounted wireless bridges, remote signage — present two challenges: they cannot accept PoE directly, and they live in a wet, surge-prone environment. The AP-G48S solves both. At the device end it receives a 48V 802.3af/at PoE cable and outputs gigabit (10/100/1000Mbps) data to the equipment’s Ethernet port plus isolated DC 12V to its power input, replacing a local weatherproof power adapter that would otherwise be required on the pole.
Two protections make it outdoor-ready. First, galvanic isolation electrically separates the PoE source from the device, preventing ground-loop currents between the building earth and outdoor equipment — a frequent cause of camera damage on long exterior runs. Second, its weatherproof outdoor housing and connectors resist moisture and dust ingress in direct-exposure mounting. Together they let non-PoE outdoor gear run from clean, isolated, weather-safe power delivered over the data cable.
